IVS won the Best Innovation Award for Open Computing: Datacenter Innovation by Efficient VRM Solutions

On August 8th, OCP and OCTC gathered industry technology pioneers to hold the high-profile Open Computing China Summit, and set up three awards for the first time: the Best Innovation Award, the Best Practice Award and the ecological Contribution Award. At the conference, IVS, Aliyun, Samsung Electronics and Murata won the Best Innovation Award for Open Computing, Inwave Information and Arm Technology won the Open Computing Ecological Contribution Award, and Baidu and ByteDance won the Open Computing Best Practice Award. These awards are designed to recognize community members who have made outstanding contributions to the field of open computing.

In today's field of open computing systems, emerging business forms such as cloud computing, artificial intelligence and blockchain are prospering, and the key support behind them is the development and empowerment of data centers. Driven by multivariate computing power and massive polymorphic data, as the basic carrier of computing power output, the improvement of VRM efficiency and stability in the motherboard system of the server has become a key factor to alleviate the contradiction between the growth of core processor xPU (CPU, GPU, DPU, etc.) computing power and unit power consumption.


IVS was invited to participate in the event and shared the latest technical achievements of open computing in the data center Infrastructure event forum. This paper introduces its new power supply scheme on the data center server motherboard, reveals the key technologies to improve the VRM power efficiency in the server motherboard and the best direction to solve the problem of power density, help solve the problems of xPU chip power consumption and computing power optimization, and promote the development of new data centers toward a greener and more efficient direction.

IS6203A is a dual-channel 12-phase PWM controller with multi-digital interface protocol. It supports PMBus, AVSBus and SVID protocols, and the switching frequency of each phase can reach 200kHz-3MHz. The patented TCOTTM control algorithm can realize the fast transient dynamic response and refined power distribution and control strategy required by xPU. It can be combined with self-developed 30A/70A/90A/100A DrMOS, which has better conversion efficiency and dynamic load adaptability through process optimization, and achieves the balance between power density and volume.

IS610XA DC monitoring current coverage 6A-50A, can provide high precision current monitoring function (IMON), and uses low RDS_ON integrated power MOSFET, built-in advanced on-chip current sampling technology, support Hot plug and self-recovery applications, both fast response and accurate protection. Ability to detect and cut off the output within nanosecond level. Some products have digital PMBus interface (IS6105A) or parallel use (IS6108A), with more flexibility and practicability. In addition, the IS610XA is embedded with various features to protect the system from inrush current, overcurrent, overvoltage, reverse current, reverse polarity and short-circuit faults, effectively improving system stability and service life.
